Below are examples of award-winning exhibits from the 2009 History Day competition season.
This project by Michael Gattas and Lauren Hetherington of Memphis won 2nd place at state competition.

This Senior Individual Project by Grace Hughbanks of Signal Mountain won 1st place at district, 1st place at state, and won a special prize at the National History Day competition for the best project in Early American History presented by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.

This Junior Individual Documentary by Emma Thompson of Tellico Plains won 1st place at district competition and 1st place at state level competition.


Below are examples of award-winning exhibits from the 2006 Tennessee History Day competition:




Michael Reed, a homeschooled student from Hixson, TN, was one of nine students from across the country to have his exhibit displayed at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. His exhibit, entitled "An Unpopular Stand: The Treatment of WWII POW's in America," won 1st place in the Junior Individual Exhibit category at the 2006 Tennessee state competition.




John French, a homeschooled student from Madison, TN, was also chosen to display his exhibit at the National competition. John's exhibit was one of nine that were displayed at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Renwick Gallery. John's exhibit, "Tommie Smith & John Carlos: Taking a Stand at the 1968 Olympics," also won the National award for Outstanding State entry from Tennessee. John won 1st place in the Senior Individual Exhibit category at the state competition.
